Sylvania Veterans Day Flag Ceremony

Thursday Nov. 8, 2012, the Sylvania Senior Center hosted the 8th Annual Veterans Day Flag Ceremony. CLICK ANY PHOTO TO ENLARGE, START SLIDESHOW

Virginia Molhar, 78, of Lake Washington, center, held her hand over her heart during the 21-Gun Salute during the 8th Annual Veterans Day Flag Ceremony at the Sylvania Senior Center. Volunteers hand-crafted the boxes in which veterans flags are displayed for their families. During the ceremony, the volunteers presented the flag boxes to family members before the Lucas County Burial Corps performed Taps. Molhar accepted the flag box on behalf of her husband, Elmer.

Mary Casey, who was representing Walker Funeral Home, addressed the several dozen people in attendance. Volunteers hand-crafted the boxes in which veterans flags are displayed for their families. Walker Funeral Home provided some sponsoring for the event.
