Wildlife artist Harold Roe was honored during the fifth annual Distinguished Artist Gala presented by the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce in the train barn in the Historical Village of Downtown Sylvania. He was inducted into the Distinguished Artists Hall of Fame, which includes the late Walter Chapman.

Chella Choi was at Highland Meadows Golf Club today for the Marathon Classic's media day. A year after she won the annual LPGA tournament here, the 25-year-old Choi staged a clinic for local youth golfers before meeting with reporters.

Gordie Howe, one of the most prolific players in National Hockey League and Detroit Red Wings history, died on Friday, June 10, 2016, at the age of 88. Howe had been living in Sylvania for the past year with his son Murray Howe, who is the head of radiology at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.
