Southview Black Oaks Savanna

Nature lovers received an educational tour of the Southview Black Oaks Savanna, featuring remnants of the sandy dunes left behind from the glacial thaw 12,000 years ago. About a dozen hikers met at Organic Bliss on King Road at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, to tour the seven acres that makeup the Oak Openings patchwork of habitats across the northwest Ohio region. Southview students test cardboard boats

Southview engineering students tested the seaworthiness of their cardboard boats on the lake at Olander Park in Sylvania, Friday, May 17, 2013. Students have worked as teams to design and build boats out of cardboard and tape that will hold their weight in a test across the lake.
