Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the Communion of Saints with Nancy Duff
Nancy Duff
Category: Education
Time: 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Venue: Sylvania United Church of Christ
Location: Sylvania
Address: 7240 Erie Street

Description: When his siblings challenged Dietrich Bonhoeffer's decision to become a theologian, saying the church was "a poor, boring, petty, and bourgeois institution," he replied: "In that case I shall reform it." The Chidester Lecture Series continues January 17-18 with Nancy Duff, the Stephen Colwell Associate Professor of Christian Ethics at Princeton Theological Seminary. She will present the life and thought of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and its significance for the Christian community in the U.S. today.

Her Saturday lecture "Stages on the Road to Freedom: Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the Church Today" ($15 ticket) will be from 4-5:30 p.m. including 30 minutes of Q&A. Her Sunday talk "Dietrich Bonhoeffer's Ethic for His Time and Ours" will be at 9:20 a.m. (free).
