Sweden's Lindberg leads after opening round of Jamie Farr Toledo Classic

Sweden's Pernilla Lindberg is the surprise leader after the opening round the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic today at Highland Meadows in Sylvania.

Lindberg, a third-year professional whose career LPGA Tour earnings ($143,006) are less than the first-place prize money for the Farr Classic ($195,000), shot a 7-under 64 to lead the field by two strokes. Americans Angela Stanford and Meredith Duncan were among a group of six golfers tied for second place with an opening-round 66.

Top United States golfer Stacy Lewis, who was born in Toledo, shot a 66.

The second round begins at 7:30 a.m. Friday.
