The Lourdes University Drama Society will present Ira Levin’s Deathtrap on Oct. 11-13.
The performances will be at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11; Saturday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 13 as well at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. The shows will be in the university's Franciscan Center Theatre in Sylvania.
Keith Ramsdell, Lourdes Drama Society advisor, directs the Tony-nominated play.
"We’re excited to bring Broadway’s longest running comedy-thriller to the Lourdes’ stage,” Ramsdell said. “For those who have never seen the play, they’re in for a roller-coaster ride from beginning to end.”
The play offers a skillful blending of gasp-inducing thrills and spontaneous laughter.
In the play, Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a dry spell. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a student - a thriller which Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway hit. Sidney's plan, which he devises with his wife's help, is to offer collaboration to the student, an idea which the younger man quickly accepts. Thereafter, the suspense mounts steadily as the plot thickens with devilish cleverness.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for seniors. Advanced purchase is suggested as seating for all of the performances is limited.
