International Women’s Day is a global event and is being marked on Friday at 5.30 to 7 p.m. at Herbally Radiant, Saxon Square, 6600 Sylvania Ave., Sylvania.
The event will be about self-confidence, pride and empowerment of women. All the ladies are welcome.
International Women’s Day is to honor and celebrate women’s achievements. While nearly 330 such events are being planned in the United Kingdom and about 114 in Canada, only about 130 are on calendar in United States, reflecting somewhat inadequate awareness, bordering on indifference, to women’s events.
But with the recent Violence Against Women’s Act passing in the United States, it still remains one of the front-runners for women’s empowerment, their social development and equal opportunity. In Ohio, there are only few events; one of which is in Columbus, being organized by African Diaspora Foundation.
We, a woman-owned and managed small enterprise, feel that as a community project, more awareness and involvement should be created in such matters. Community welfare largely depends on the situation of women which directly affects every family.
The objective of the Friday event is to meet, know each other, share ideas and experiences of women related issues and plan initiatives to address women’s issues. The event is sponsored by Herbally Radiant.
