Northview High School receives Platinum achievement award

Northview High School is one of 16 schools in the nation to receive the High Schools That Work program’s designation Platinum High Achievement School for 2012.

Schools identified with that designation met seven criteria based on an assessment and recent state data. Criteria includes meeting or exceeding goals set by High Schools That Work in career readiness, core curriculum, career-technical students earned high implementation status, participated in two-years of program assessments as well as state goals of Adequate Yearly Progress and a graduation rate of 85 percent or higher.

The Sylvania school will be recognized for its achievement at the High Schools That Work conference on July11 during the opening general session in New Orleans.

Both Northview and Southview have been part of the High Schools That Work initiative since 1998. Both have been actively involved in the process, training and implementation of the best practices as part of the initiative. Both Sylvania schools have received recognition from the program’s Southern Regional Education Board board as Gold Achievement Award winners in 2009 and 2010.
