Lourdes University’s 'Hit the Links' brings in $25,000

Each year, on the first Friday in June, members of the Toledo-area community Hit the Links for Lourdes University students.

Sponsored by MT Business Technologies/RICOH, this year’s outing included 44 teams of golfers who raised more than $25,000. Since its inception in 2000, Hit the Links has raised nearly a quarter million dollars for student scholarships at Lourdes.

Hit the Links has been held at the Bedford Hills Golf Club in Temperance for the last 10 years. The outing included 18 holes of golf played over 3 courses, a continental breakfast, and lunch in the pavilion.

The top men’s team, finishing 16 under par, was Mainstreet Ventures (comprised of Mainstreet Ventures CEO Michael Gibbons, Rick Bohn, Jason Abodert, and Doug Abodert).

Top mixed team, finishing 8 under par, was Jerl Machine Inc. (comprised of Joe Miller, Gail Fink, Carol Coe, and Craig Brossia).

Top women’s team, finishing 6 under par, was Gayle Lampkowski’s team (comprised of Ann Meier, Gayle Lampkowski, Anne Marie Blank, and Joey Apgar). Additional prizes were awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive, and longest putt.

“Hit the Links is a wonderful opportunity for members of the community to gather together ‘fore’ education and our Lourdes students – and this year, we were blessed with such a beautiful day for a golf outing,” said Mary Arquette, vice president for Institutional Advancement. “The generosity of our sponsors and participants is what truly makes this event a success, and we are so very grateful for their continued support.”
