Children of Sylvania and Toledo were treated today to a fairy-tale breakfast with the characters of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

Southview High School’s cafeteria was transformed into a royal setting for children as they enjoyed a meal from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. surrounded by Princess Belle, and the Beast. The event was hosted by the parent organization Southview Drama Boosters.

“We wanted to help fund the musical, and this fund-raiser worked well with us doing Beauty and the Beast,” said Jaymie Fontana, the president of the Southview Drama Boosters.

“I found out there are tons of girls that love the Disney Princesses,” Mrs. Fontana said.

More than 250 families with their children attended the breakfast that featured the high school cast dressed in character in preparation for next week’s musical performance. Mrs. Fontana said the amount of people interested in the event exceeded her expectations.

“My hope was that we could get 50 people,” she said.

The Southview Drama Boosters will donate money raised from the Breakfast with Belle event to help with the production costs of the Beauty and the Beast play that will be performed by students the high school’s theater next weekend. Mrs. Fontana said the total cost of the musical could range from $30,000 to $35,000.

In addition to children taking photos with the two main characters, they also mingled with Mrs. Potts the teapot, Lumière the candelabra, and Cogsworth the clock.
