Veterans and servicemen will be honored at two different assemblies Monday in the Sylvania Schools.

The first assembly will be held at 8:15 a.m. at Arbor Hills Junior High School, and the second at 1:45 p.m. at McCord Junior High School.

Former serviceman Matt Drake will be the guest speaker at both assemblies, though he attended Arbor Hills Junior High. Serviceman Walt Connelly, a Sylvania teacher will be speaking at Arbor Hills. This will be his first and only time that will formally speak of his previous two Iraqi deployments.

Community and family members that served in the military have been invited to participate as special guests at both assemblies; over 50 veteran's coming to Arbor Hills and about 30 veterans coming to McCord in the afternoon.

Both assemblies have been organized by Walt Connelly as a special tribute to those that have or are serving in the armed forces. The choir and bands will pay tribute through a series of songs.
