The Sylvania Senior Center honored veterans with a Flag Box Ceremony today.

Sponsored by Walker Funeral Home, the event included "Taps," played by the Lucas County Burial Corps. A 21-gun salute followed the presentation, which included a flag burial ceremony.

The event was designed to honor the American flag and area veterans.

“It is a beautiful tribute,” Sylvania Senior Center director Julie Graf said.

Flag boxes were dispersed to families who attended. The boxes were “handmade by our woodshop volunteers,” according to Ms. Graf.
