Combining fun and wellness, students at Sylvania's Sylvan Elementary School participated in a fund-raiser today called “Stride for Pride.”

As a fund-raiser that encourages healthy lifestyles and fitness, students were asked to raise donations and then they were permitted to spend one recess time, running laps, or walking, to music.

The event started at 9:30 a.m. and lasted the entire school day. Music was played by a DJ. Parents were also invited to join the students.

Sylvan Elementary principal John Duwve said the event raised around $15,000, which is on par with previous years.
