Northview grad Chip Davis honored by his hometown

BLADE STAFF

A Northview High School graduate who founded Mannheim Steamroller is to be honored today by his hometown.

Chip Davis, known for his Christmas music, attributed much of his success to the values he learned growing up.

He was honored at a reception at Sylvania City Hall, with a proclamation from Mayor Craig Stough, with a street designation of “Chip Davis Way” at Silica Drive and Monroe Street, and with a presentation at half-time of the Northview football game against Anthony Wayne.

Mr. Davis graduated in 1965 from Sylvania High School, where he played in the marching band and sang in the cappella choir, under the direction of his father, Louis Davis.
