Sylvania Schools students received warm welcomes on their first day of school Thursday.
Each building and classroom started their day a little different but all with the same goal in mind: to ease the students back into school through various activities to meet their respective teachers and classmates, learn their new schedules, and set goals for the year.
At Northview High School, the freshmen took part in a day-long LINK program under the direction of Jodi Hess and her colleagues, Melanie Rogers, Katie Henk and Stacy Wachowiak.
At Stranahan Elementary, a rousing introduction took place in an assembly introducing the students to all of the staff to the theme from the movie Rocky. The new principal, Jeremy Bauer, was revealed in a cloud of smoke and music.
