The attorney representing a 14-year-old rape suspect filed a motion today to suppress statements the youth made to police.

Ronnie Wingate filed the motion with the Lucas County juvenile court clerk's office, he said during a pretrial hearing.

The teen, and a 17-year-old boy, are students at Southview High School. Each are accused of raping a 15-year-old girl, also a student at the school. The 17 year old is also charged with kidnapping.

A hearing for the motion was scheduled for Oct. 22.

Mr. Wingate also asked Judge Connie Zemmelman to consider letting the 14-year-old boy out of detention and to be placed on house arrest.

The judge denied the request.

The rape was reported to Sylvania police on Sept. 16.

The victim told police she was raped at Olander Park sometime shortly after school let out for the day.
