Sylvania area crime log, fire runs 10/25
Here are the crimes reported to Sylvania and Sylvania Township police departments in the past week. Sylvania Township Fire Department runs also are listed.
Sylvania Police
Oct. 18
Burglary. Diane Gibson, 6600 block of Mpalewood Avenue, reported a compound bow, a storage case, and compound bow accessories were stolen from her storage unit.
Burglary. Jeffrey Managhan, 6600 block of Maplewood Avenue, reported a wall saw, two saw blades, and a corner blade were stolen from his storage unit.
Breaking and entering. Tammy Lefevre, 6600 block of Maplewood Avenue, reported her storage room was broken into and containers of craft and painting supplies, a clear plastic container of books, 10 boxes of Chex cereal, and a TV converter box were missing.
Oct. 19
Theft. Southview High School Band Boosters, 5403 Silica Dr., reported an undetermined amount of pop, water, and candy was taken without permission.
Oct. 21
Burglary. Thomas Nicholson, 6000 block of Rockdale Lane, reported several items were stolen from his attached garage, including Christmas ornaments, Santa statues, a stainless steel mixing bowl, and a pair of black roller blades.
Unauthorized use of motor vehicle. Tracy Fletcher, 1800 block of Christian Ave., reported that she allowed her ex-husband to use her vehicle, but he kept it longer than the agreed upon time.
Burglary. Robert Joyce, 6600 block of Maplewood Ave., reported his storage unit was broken into and stolen were three fishing poles, one tackle box, and assorted china dishes and crystal goblets.
Assault. Resisting arrest. Disorderly conduct. Failure to comply with orders. Leaving the scene of an accident. Lois Lafountain, 7500 block of Erie Street, drove her vehicle in disregard of a civic parade that was taking place for Sylvania's Fall Festival. She failed to comply with the orders of two police officers who were directing traffic. She then caused alarm to spectators on the parade route. Ms. Lafountain proceeded to cause physical harm to a police officer. She resisted arrest and was booked.
Oct. 22
Theft. Criminal damaging/endangering. Dave White Chevrolet, 5880 Monroe St., reported that four 2012 factory 20” forged, polished aluminum wheels were stolen from vehicles at the car lot. Also stolen were center wheel caps, 32 wheel lug nuts, and four tire monitor sensors. Estimated value of the items was $8,158.25.
Sylvania Township Police
Oct. 16
Theft. Spuyten Duyval Golf Course, 9500 block of Central Avenue, reported that during the overnight hours, a 2008 Club Car electric golf cart was stolen from the golf course. The golf cart was not secured and no evidence was found. The cart is valued at $3,000.
