Sylvania area crime log, fire runs 9/25

Here are the crimes reported to Sylvania and Sylvania Township police departments in the past week. Sylvania Township Fire Department runs also are listed.

Sylvania Police

Sept. 18

Theft. Alexander Epps, 4800 block of Wickford Green Road, reported a security video and a Phillips 32-inch flat screen television were stolen from his locked storage unit.

Sept. 19

Theft. Nicholas Peiffer, 7400 block of Erie Street, reported the right rear window was broken on his vehicle and several items were taken, including  various lenses, eye exam equipment, a stethoscope, a blood pressure cuff, and a brief case containing miscellaneous paperwork.

Theft. Kroger Co., 6235 Monroe St., a suspect left the store after attempting to steal two six-pack cases of Milwaukee Best Ice beer. He was later apprehended by store employees.

Theft. Carriene Robinson, 6700 block of Erie St., reported her white iPhone4 with a dent on the lower right side of the front of the phone was stolen from her residence.

Sept. 20

Theft. Lourdes University, 6832 Convent Blvd., the university library reported that someone checked out 25 books and has failed to return them, even after receiving a letter.

Theft. Flower Hospital, 5200 Harroun Road, a suspect used false personal information to obtain medical treatment, which was valued at $1,000.

Sept. 21

Theft. Kroger Timberstone, 7545 Sylvania Ave., a man attempted to steal several food items from the store.

Sylvania Township Police

Sept. 17

Theft. Connie Cordonnier, 9100 block of Bowman Farms Lane, reported that several items were missing from her jewelry box, including four gold and diamond bracelets. 

Sept. 19

Theft of vehicle. Taylor's Automax Cars, 6222 W. Central Ave., reported a 2000 White Chevy Suburban was stolen from the Taylor Automax dealership. 

Sept. 20

Burglary. John Becerra, 7200 block of Cloister, reported his son, Ethan, was home alone when he heard someone enter the residence through an unlocked side garage door. He hid in an upstairs closet and called 911. The burglar was in the computer room of the house and when Ethan Becerra made eye contact, the burglar fled.

Sept. 21

Theft. Cisp Inc., 3035 Moffat Road, an employee of the business stated that an iPad 2 was stolen and he needed to file a police report so Apple Co. can activate the tracking device in the iPad 2.

3300 block of Plainview Drive, assist invalid.

4100 block of Whiteford Road, person in distress.

Sept. 20

8000 block of Ivywood Lane, assist invalid.

3300 block of Percentum Road, public service assistance.

Sept. 21

4100 block of Holland-Sylvania Road, smoke detector activation.

4400 block of Candlewood Lane, smoke or odor removal.

4100 block of Holland-Sylvania Road, system malfunction.

Dogwood Lane & Gilhouse Road, unauthorized burning.

Sept. 22

6900 block of Brint Road, alarm system activation.

5200 block of Monroe St., outside stationary compactor.

Sept. 23

4800 block of Wickford Green Road, alarm system activation.

4900 block of Burkewood Court, gas leak.

4200 block of Holland-Sylvania Road, unintentional transmission problem.

9500 block of Central Avenue, outside rubbish fire.

6600 block of Wickford Drive, system malfunction.

Sept. 24

Brinthaven Road & Convent Blvd., gas leak.

4000 block of Forestlawn Road, cooking fire.

Bancroft Street & McCord Road, dispatched and canceled en route.
