Sylvania area crime log: 9-12
Here are the crimes reported to Sylvania and Sylvania Township police departments in the past week. Sylvania Township Fire Department runs also are listed.
Sylvania Police
Sept. 4
Theft. Linda Taylor, 4900 block of South Main Street, reported that someone used her debit card to buy $462.22 worth of merchandise without her permission.
Theft. Sylvania Area Federal Credit Union, 6613 Maplewood Avenue, reported a suspect made a number of deposits into two different accounts at Champion Credit Union. The deposit envelopes were empty and it was found that the two accounts being deposited into were held by the Sylvania Area Federal Credit Union.
Theft. Drug abuse/controlled substance possession. Alexandra Zunk, 7300 block of Kest Road, reported that a DVD, 3 bags inside of a larger bag containing 25.2 grams of marijuana, a green purse, and a prescription bottle for Alprazolam were stolen from her unlocked vehicle.
Sept. 5
Theft. Karen Thompson, 6000 block of Hawthorne Drive, reported 78 Tramadol HCL 50 mg tablets were stolen from her residence.
Sept. 6
Theft. Oliver Greive, 5400 block of Brixton Drive, reported thefts from an unsecured gym locker, as well as from lockers of other students. Stolen items included 4 Apple MP3 players, valued at $150 each.
Theft. Kroger Co., 6235 Monroe Street, reported a suspect concealed an eight-ounce bag of Kroger mozzarella cheese, a 16-ounce bag of Kroger mild cheddar cheese, a 16-ounce bag of Blue Diamond almonds, and a 16-ounce container of Driscoll’s strawberries and attempted to leave the store without paying.
Sylvania Township Police
Sept. 4
Theft. Meijer, 7240 W. Central Ave., a loss prevention associate at the store reported that an employee observed a customer shopping with numerous bottles of Tide detergent. The customer then walked through the self-checkout section and exited the store without paying. When questioned, the customer fled on foot.
Sept. 7
Theft. Cellular Central Inc., 5215 Monroe St., reported to officers that someone stole three cellular phones from the business.
Sept. 10
Breaking and entering. Ronald Kupec, 5800 block of Bonsels, reported someone broke in the windows around the front door of his home and removed assorted power tools.
