Sylvania area crime log: 8-14
Here are the crimes reported to Sylvania and Sylvania Township police departments in the past week. Sylvania Township Fire Department runs also are listed.
Sylvania Police
Aug. 7
Commitment mental health center, burglary, Kirsten Kueser, 4900 block of Brinthaven, reported that a suspect entered her residence without permission and admitted to being depressed. The suspect in question was voluntarily seeking help from a mental health facility and was then transported to a rescue crisis program.
Burglary. Christopher Graney, 4900 block of Main Street, an unknown person entered Mr. Graney’s residence and stole a 42 inch Panasonic television, a Bose stereo system, a .45 caliber hand gun and a men’s gold wedding band. A 1992 Superman comic book was also stolen from the residence.
Aug. 8
Theft. Dave White Chevrolet, 5800 block of Monroe Street, several plastic silver caps with gold Chevy symbols were stolen from the car dealership.
Aug. 9
Theft. Stacey Richard, 5600 block of Acres Road, several items were stolen from Ms. Richard, including a 14 karat gold ring with a blue topaz stone, a 14 karat gold heart pendant, a gold ring with a ruby stone and a gold ring with a synthetic ruby stone and diamonds.
Aug. 11
Theft. John Garner, 5600 block of Alexis Road, Mr. Garner had an Ohio driver’s license, a Print and Ship Center card and several other cards stolen from his residence.
Aug. 12
Breaking and entering. Sylvania Pharmacy, 7600 block of West Sylvania Avenue, various prescription medications, including Hydrocodon, were stolen from the pharmacy.
Sylvania Township Police
Aug. 8
Theft/criminal damage to motor vehicle. Daniel Applegate, 2700 block of Westmar Court, Mr. Applegate reported that the passenger side window of his vehicle was pried open. His wallet was stolen and cash, as well as several credit cards, including a corporate card, were stolen from his wallet.
Aug. 9
Theft. Speedway, 5430 Monroe St., the Speedway gas station district manager caught an employee voiding sales and keeping cash from the register. The loss to the business is estimated at $108.47. The suspect was fired from the store.
Aug. 11
Theft. Walmart, 5821 Central Ave., four empty cell phone boxes were found inside a restroom. Surveillance video found that a suspect ripped four phone packages from the shelves and hid them in his pants. He opened the boxes in the restroom and left the store without paying for the phones.
Aug. 12
Theft. Lauren Earls, 5700 block of Centennial Road, Ms. Earls was at Centennial Quarry when someone broke out the side window of her vehicle and stole a Droid cell phone, an iPod touch, an iPod nano and a black leather purse and wallet.
