$2,000 reward listed for clues to slaying

BLADE STAFF

Sylvania Township police have announced a $2,000, privately sponsored reward for information that helps investigators solve the June slaying of a township man in his home.

Darryl Stipes, 60, was shot about 10:20 p.m. June 21 inside his home in the 3300 block of Waldmar Road, and died hours later at Toledo Hospital hours later.

Friends and relatives raised money for the reward, township police said.

A recording released last month of 911 communications captured Mr. Stipes telling a dispatcher he was dying after being shot several times. He provided brief descriptions of two men, one white and the other black, who had robbed and then shot him.

Information about the crime can be reported to township police by calling 419-882-2055.
