Sylvania area crime log, fire runs 8/09
Here are the crimes reported to Sylvania and Sylvania Township police departments in the past week. Sylvania Township Fire Department runs also are listed.
Sylvania Police
July 31
Vehicle trespass. Petty theft. Thomas Hosler, 8000 block of Indian Creek Lane, reported that the following items were stolen from his vehicle: a Sirius radio display, Rayban sunglasses and cash.
Aug. 1
Petty theft. Kroger Timberstone, 7545 Sylvania Avenue, reported that an employee stole approximately $937 from the store during the time he was employed there, from July 7 to Aug. 1.
Aug. 4
Theft. Henry Hobgood, 5400 block of Main Street, reported that the following items were taken from the residence without his permission: a yellow gold necklace, white gold diamond earrings and two pairs of pearl earrings.
Petty theft. New England Lane Apartments, 4855 New England Lane, told officers that an unknown person removed copper piping from the first floor of one of the buildings, resulting in extensive water damage.
Breaking and entering. Scott Bollin, 4100 block of King Road, a steel door and frame were broken when someone tried to break into Mr. Bollin’s building.
Aug. 6
Petty theft. Dustin Moeller, 4100 block of Grantley Road, Mr. Moeller reported that a Stihl leaf blower was stolen from his residence.
Sylvania Township Police
July 31
Theft. Ella May Sliker, 5700 block of Corey Cove, reported that she received a call, where the caller stated that she won a $2.5 million prize if she went to Kroger or Rite Aid and purchased a reloadable money card. She was instructed to call back with the numbers on the back of the card.
Aug. 1
Theft. Barbara Smith, 9500 block of West Central Ave., parked her vehicle at the Cottonwood Driving Range. When she returned back to her car, she found that her passenger front window was smashed and her purse was stolen.
Aug. 2
Burglary. Lee Ann Moline, 4800 block of Country Walk, reported that someone went into her unlocked garage and removed her purse. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
Burglary. Karen Kohler, 4600 block of Country Walk, found that her purse was removed from her kitchen counter, as well as a cell phone. Her credit cards were found outside of her residence later. The cash in her purse remained the only thing missing.
Theft. Katie Hawk, 6500 block of Blossman Road, went to the station and reported that her debit card had been stolen. She suspected the card was taken from her wallet while it was in a camper outside of her residence. Ms. Hawk believes her brother took the card, as he has a history of the same behavior.

3800 block of Silica Road, outside rubbish, trash or waste fire.
Aug. 4
2600 block of Main Street, smoke or odor removal.
6700 block of Gettysburg Drive, smoke detector activation.
Aug. 5
6000 block of Bonsels Parkway, assist invalid.
6800 block of Milrose Lane, cooking fire.
Aug. 7
3300 block of Plainview Drive, assist invalid.
Aug. 8
7100 block of Port Sylvania Drive, assist invalid.
5900 block of Graystone Drive, carbon monoxide incident.
