Sylvania area crime log: 7-18

BLADE STAFF

Here are the crimes reported to Sylvania and Sylvania Township police departments in the past week. Sylvania Township Fire Department runs also are listed.

Sylvania Police

July 10

Theft. Aaron Byler, 5500 block of West Alexis Road, reported a golf club bag, as well as several golf clubs, were removed from his vehicle.

July 11

Theft. Barbara Esterly, 4500 block of Gaines Mill Drive, reported her credit card was obtained and illegally used to make purchases.

July 13

Breaking and entering. Functionally Active Fitness, 7601 Sylvania Ave., said a door lock and handle were forced open at the business and the owner was contacted.

July 14

Burglary. Michele Joseph, 6000 block of Rockdale Lane, reported several items were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in a driveway: a clutch-style wallet, an Ohio driver's license, a debit card and a bank checkbook. Several miscellaneous membership cards were also taken.

Breaking and entering. Hancock Fabrics, 5700 Monroe St., reported a wood-encased entry door was found to have pry marks and a destroyed dead bolt lock, indicating the possibility of a break in.

Breaking and entering. Cold Stone Creamery, 7633 Sylvania Ave., reported a door lock and handle, with an estimated value of $150, were found damaged, indicating forced entry into the rear door of the location.

July 15

Found property. Unknown owner, 5700 block of Elliot Drive. An abandoned bicycle was found on the curb of the residence on Elliot Drive. The bike was recovered by Sylvania officers and was placed in police department storage.

Breaking and entering. BoRic's Haircare, 7603 Sylvania Ave., reported an unknown person forcefully entered the haircare business through the rear door. Nothing was reported stolen from the shop.

July 16

Burglary. Sewing Express, 5700 Monroe St., Suite 125A, reported the rear door of the business was broken into and $60 in cash was stolen.

Burglary. Shear Productions, 5800 Monroe St., Suite 5, reported $85 in cash was stolen from the business. Suspects entered the business through the locked front door.

Theft. Kyle McClain, 5200 block of Alexis Road, said his 1994 Honda CBR90 vehicle was stolen from Alexis Road.

Sylvania Township Police

July 11

Theft. Bob Hadley, 5000 block of Davenport Road, reported his iPad was missing.

July 12

Theft from a motor vehicle. Melissa Fournier, 6400 block of Sylvania Avenue, said a purse and several credit cards were stolen from her vehicle.

July 13

Burglary. Nancy Sassee, 2800 block of Moffat Drive, reported unknown suspects broke into the residence and rummaged through the house, taking several items, including silverware and a digital camera.

July 14

Theft. Family Dollar, 5005 W. Alexis Rd., reported a Genesis black onyx men's bicycle was stolen from the store while a customer shopped at the store.

July 15

Theft from a motor vehicle. Jeremy Gapp, 2500 block of Wilford Drive, reported a purse, cash, and miscellaneous credit cards were stolen from a vehicle on Wilford while the vehicle's owners attended services at Westgate Chapel. The passenger-side window was smashed out and the merchandise was stolen.

July 11

5700 block of Whiteford Road, dispatched and canceled en route.

5600 block of Rudyard Road, unauthorized burning.

5900 block of Brainard Drive, shorted electric fire.

July 13

7200 block of Sylvania Avenue, dispatched and canceled en route.

2800 block of Holland-Sylvania Road, unauthorized burning.

July 14

3400 block of Shakespeare Lane, alarm system activation.

5100 block of Central Avenue, alarm system activation.

2300 block of Tiffany Village Boulevard, off-road vehicle or heavy vehicle needing assistance.

July 15

4800 block of Central Avenue, alarm system sounded.

July 16

2800 block of McCord Road, false alarm or false call.

3200 block of Millicent Avenue, power line down.
