Sylvania area crime log: July 3-8

Here are the crimes reported to Sylvania and Sylvania Township police departments in the past week. Sylvania Township Fire Department runs also are listed.

Sylvania Police

July 3

Theft. Joel Oswald, 5200 block of Harroun Road, a black and silver Jamison road bike, valued at $1,300 was stolen from the back of Mr. Oswald’s car, while it was parked on Harroun Road.

July 7

Theft. Sue Latz, 7600 block of Sylvania Avenue, the passenger window of Ms. Latz’s vehicle was broken into and an Ohio University Credit Union account card, a checkbook, prescription bifocal glasses and a keychain were stolen from her vehicle.

Criminal damaging-knowingly and theft. Kristina Kieffer, 7400 block of Erie Street, the passenger front window of Ms. Kieffer’s vehicle was broken into and a Metamora Bank Visa debit card, a Capital One Mastercard, a New York and Company credit card, several gift cards, cash, a purse, make-up bag, tape measure, wallet, Epipen device and various prescription medications were stolen from her vehicle.

July 8

Petty theft. Kelsey Rentner, 5600 block of Fox Hollow Court, miscellaneous CDs, an iPod cord and two pairs of sunglasses were stolen from Ms. Rentner’s vehicle, while it was parked in the driveway of a residence on Fox Hollow Court.

Criminal damaging-knowingly, petty theft and theft. Shannon Delverne, 5700 block of Fox Hollow Court, two RCA portable DVD players, one DC/AC power converter and an orange and gray PHH gas card were stolen from the residence.

Burglary. Johnenia Gumtow, 4600 block of Framingham, two diamond and ruby necklaces, two diamond tennis bracelets, various items of jewelry, a Fender guitar and two coffee cans full of change were removed from Ms. Gumtow’s residence.

Sylvania Township Police

July 3

Breaking and entering. Taylor Kia, 6300 W. Central Avenue, the business reported that an unknown suspect gained entry to the shop and broke into a vending machine in the service area, stealing an undetermined amount of cash.

Theft of motor vehicle. Jane Thompson, 9000 block of Brint Road, Ms. Thompson stated that a 1942 Dodge pickup was stolen from her barn. She reported that the truck hasn’t run in years and for it to be stolen, it would have to have been towed. The residence will be under extra surveillance.

Theft. David Ziemke, 4800 block of Box Lane, Mr. Ziemke reported that the service door of his detached garage was pried open and a suspect or suspects stole several items from his garage.

July 4

Criminal damage/theft from motor vehicle. Donnie Lee Hayes, 2700 block of Westmar Court, Mr. Hayes reported that a window was smashed out on his car and that the following items were stolen: one Kenwood CD Car stereo, three L3-Kicker speakers and one 1500-watt audio amp. The estimated value of the equipment is $1,215.

July 6

Theft. Laurie Probert, 3700 block of Fairwood Drive, Ms. Probert reported that between $400-$500 in cash was missing from the residence’s lockbox, located in the basement. There were no signs of forced entry.
