Commissioners with the Olander Park System will host a special meeting at 5 p.m. Monday to discuss a replacement for former director Gary Madrzykowski.

Commissioner Gail Abood said the commissioners will discuss how they will handle the open position of park director since Mr. Madrzykowski stepped down from the post Aug. 2. Mr. Madrzykowski resigned after commissioners said they discovered he allegedly took more than $2,500 in park funds. He served as park director since 1998.

“We have to embark on how we are going to run the park. All the assistant managers have stepped up since Gary’s resignation,” she said. The three commissioners are expected to decide if they will have an interim director while they search to fill the management role permanently, she said, adding that they could look within the organization for a replacement, as well as welcome applications from outside the organization.

The meeting will be held at the Jack Callahan Office Building, Olander Park, 6930 Sylvania Ave.
