Parts of Monroe Street and Erie Street will be closed to through traffic starting Monday for a resurfacing construction project.

Monroe Street, between Erie Street and Silica Drive, will be open to eastbound traffic only for a period of 60 days. A detour will be posted for drivers to travel Main and Erie Streets.

The Erie Street Bridge replacement work will start Monday. Erie Street will be closed to through traffic between Little Road and Little Farms Court for a period of 45 days. Detour signs will alert drivers to take an alternate route using Centennial, Brint, and Harroun roads.

The projects were originally scheduled to take place a week earlier but were delayed because of contractors performing preliminary work before construction began, Joseph Shaw, deputy director of the City of Sylvania Department of Public Service, said.

For further information about the project call 419-885-8965.
