Sylvania to resurface 4 residential roads

The City of Sylvania is now accepting bids for the resurfacing of four roads this summer.

City Service director Kevin Aller said that Lane Street, Winding Way, Country Place, and a segment of Balfour Road, north of Marshall Road, will have surfaces removed and repaved with fresh asphalt. Bids for the project will be accepted through July 10.

Until a contractor is chosen, the start of the project is unknown. However the city aims to complete the resurfacing of the four streets by late summer or early fall, Mr. Aller said.

Mr. Aller does not expect a full shut down of the roads during the project. One lane will be open, in either direction, for local traffic. As Lane Street has a narrower width than the other streets, there is a possibility that it will close, he said.

The re-pavement work will be paid with funds from the city’s capital improvement budget.   About $146,000 has been budgeted for the project.
