Bowser-Morner will perform construction testing services for the upcoming replacement of a bridge on Erie Street, just west of Little Farms Court.
Sylvania City Council approved this week city Service Director Kevin Aller’s recommendation that the Toledo company test the construction site for proper stone compaction for the bridge’s foundation and asphalt compaction for the planned roadwork on the road. The contractor also is to check the concrete to make sure it meets specifications.
The services, which will cost $6,523, was factored into the overall project cost of $461,229. The Ohio Public Works Commission will provide about $264,000 and the Lucas County Engineer’s Office will cover another $40,000. The city will cover the remaining costs.
Napoleon-based firm Vernon Nagel will replace the deteriorating culvert pipes with a rectangular concrete structure to support the road that runs across Schreiber Creek.
The bridge will be closed during the 45-day project, which is to begin on July 25. Detour routes are posted on the city’s site, at cityofsylvania.com.
