A block of 21 homes in Sylvania Township is headed into the city of Sylvania following approval of an annexation request today by the Lucas County Commissioners.
The homes on Arbor Way were the subject of a hearing and then a vote, which went 3-0 in favor of approving the petition to have 6.3 acres of property on Arbor Way between Whiteford Road and Silvertown Drive join the city.
The annexation request was initiated because the homeowners wanted to switch to a sewer system instead of a septic tank system. Bill Dryer, a Sylvania resident who owns rental property on the street, said the septic tank replacements and maintenance have been a financial burden to the homeowners.
The township did not protest the annexation.
