Conditions ripe for sledding in Sylvania

Residents take to Northview High, Olander Park

Ahead of a wintry mix — snow, freezing rain, sleet — area residents spent some time outdoors today in Sylvania, including folks who found the popular sledding hill at Northview High School sled-worthy.

Others ventured out to Olander Park to spend some time off the couch and out of the house.

It will be a bit of a slippery slope weather-wise today and into the start of the work week with the National Weather Service issuing weather advisories for Sylvania and surrounding communities where a winter weather advisory remains in effect until 3 a.m. Monday. Light freezing rain and sleet will pelt northwest Ohio later today. Temperatures will rise and the wintry precipitation will change over to rain by midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

With rain (and muddy boots) in the forecast, it could be tough sledding for awhile. Rain is expected Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with temperatures on Tuesday near 60, according to the National Weather Service.

Keep the sleds handy, though. By Wednesday night, cooler temperatures return along with a chance of snow.
