Sylvania Franciscans plan peace prayer liturgy
As messengers of peace and seekers of justice, the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania will hold its annual peace gathering at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel on the Motherhouse grounds.
A peacemaking prayer adapted from She Who Brings Peace, by Megan McKenna, author, theologian and story teller best known for hers works on bringing meaning and hope to the world, is the focus of the January Peace Prayer.
Being peaceful in all that they do and say is part of the rules of the Third Order of St. Francis, of which the Sisters are members. In addition, the Sylvania Franciscans have identified a “call to peacemaking” as one of the initiatives they will focus on over the next four years. This Prayer Service is one of the ways they have chosen to fulfill that directive.
The Queen of Peace Chapel is next to the Lourdes University campus. To get there, enter the grounds off of Convent Boulevard at the Franciscan Center entrance. Follow the signs for the chapel.
