Sylvania City Council approves $8.3 million budget

The Sylvania City Council has approved the 2013 city budget, with general fund revenues expected to total $6.6 million and expenditures nearly $8.3 million.

The council plans to tap its "rainy day fund" to balance the budget, which is expected to total $11 million at the end of 2012.

The council discussed ways to reduce spending so that reserve funds don't have to be used to balance the budget.
