Exchange Club of Maumee provides bike helmets for bike safety program at Camp Miakonda
The Exchange Club of Maumee recently donated funds to purchase bicycle helmets and storage containers for the bicycle safety course provided for Cub Scouts attending Camp Miakonda this summer.
Camp director Erica King said, “Thank you very much to the Maumee Exchange Club for their generous donation of funding to purchase bike helmets for our 2012 Cub Scout Day Camp Program at Historical Camp Miakonda. Not only do they look great, but they have helped to improve safety for our youth participants for this camp year and many to come.”

Along with proper bike handling techniques the safety course promotes both proper fit and use of bicycle helmets. When worn correctly helmets are effective at reducing the risk of head injuries. Helmets have been shown to reduce the risk of head injury by as much as 85%.
The Exchange Club of Maumee provides community service, supports youth activities, promotes acts of Americanism and advocates the prevention of child abuse. Maumee Exchange member Ted Lindsey adds “The Exchange Club of Maumee is dedicated to supporting our youth through a variety of projects. The club felt bike safety is an important topic for today’s young people.”
