Sylvania Senior Center aims to provide relief from the heat

The Area Office on Aging will operate cooling centers at eight Toledo-area locations to provide relief for people, especially senior citizens, who are vulnerable to heat-related health problems. Those centers and their hours are:

Sylvania Senior Center, 7140 W. Sylvania Ave., Wednesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Margaret Hunt Senior Center, 2121 Garden Lake Pkwy., Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Eleanor Kahle Senior Center, 1315 Hillcrest Dr., Wednesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

East Toledo Family Center, 1020 Varland Ave., Wednesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Friendship Park Senior Center, 2930 131st St., Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Zablocki Senior Center, 3015 Lagrange St., Wednesday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Maumee Senior Center, 2430 S. Detroit Ave., Toledo, Wednesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Oregon Senior Center, 5760 Bayshore Rd., Wednesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
