Your Sylvania Township Fire Department is proud to announce the re-certification of township mechanic Al Hasenfratz as a Master Fire Apparatus Service Technician, certified through the National Emergency Vehicle Technician Commission (EVT).
A Master Fire Apparatus Service Technician is the highest level attainable for an Emergency Vehicle Technician.
To attain this certification Al combined certification testing through ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) and the EVT, completing exams used to identify diagnostic and repair knowledge of vehicle maintenance, braking systems, suspension, steering, gasoline & diesel engines, drive train, electrical systems, heating and air-conditioning, Allison automatic transmissions, and the specific levels of knowledge in fire apparatus inspection, maintenance and testing, design and performance standards, fire pumps and accessories, aerial fire apparatus, and accepted practices used in the service and maintenance of fire apparatus.
Al is one of only 15 EVT Master Technicians in the state of Ohio and one of 586 Master Fire Technicians in the U.S. and Canada.
Our congratulations to Al on his re-certification, and for assuring the fire apparatus responding to your emergency is safe and reliable for our community and the firefighters. Al is one of the best in the nation.
