Halloween for Sylvania residents will be held a day early.
Sylvania officials designated trick-or-treat night from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30.
Mayor Craig Stough said there were concerns raised over the safety of children trick-or-treating on Halloween night because there was a football game scheduled at Northview High School that evening.
He and Police Chief William Rhodus said the football game would cause increased traffic on roads that night.
Sylvania Township has not set a date for its trick-or-treating. Administrator John Zeitler said it will confirm the date at its next trustees’ meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
