Families had the new Southview High School stadium all to themselves on Saturday.
The school and its athletic department invited the community to the Mel Nusbaum Stadium for a day of fun in the sun and, of course, a little football. The stadium officially opened Friday when the Southview Cougars took on St. Francis de Sales.
On Saturday, various food trucks set up around the green field. Those in attendance were challenged to some cornhole, or bean bag tossing. Children had colorful characters and symbols painted on their faces and memorialized the day by taking a fun photo inside the photo booth.
At 3 p.m., alumni gathered on the field for flag football. The competition pitted graduates from odd years against those who completed high school in an even year.
