Relay promotes healthy, drug-free lifestyle

BLADE STAFF

The Sylvania Community Action Team hosts its annual 24-Hour Relay Challenge Mother’s Day weekend.

Children, grades seven to 12, are challenged to run laps for 24 hours, taking turns as a group, around Timberstone Junior High’s track. This year a 7-Hour Challenge is offered to sixth-grade children. The event, hosted on Saturday and Sunday, includes a host of fun and positive activities for children that encourage a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among youth.

Annual event downtown promotes area shopping

Once again the trees are in bloom in downtown Sylvania, signaling the time for the spring shopping event, Downtown Delights.

This year’s Downtown Delights will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Hosted by the Downtown Sylvania Association, the event highlights the shops and restaurants in downtown along Main Street north of Monroe. Shops normally close at 5 p.m. but will stay open later to welcome shoppers to the area.
