Children with Sylvania Arts Commission to perform 'Emperor's New Clothes'

The Sylvania Community Arts Commission theater group will feature aspiring actors and actresses aged 9 to 17 years to produce The Emperor’s New Clothes at Lourdes University at 10 a.m. on Aug. 1.

The commission will work with the children actors from next Monday until the performance.

Participants in this year’s youth theater workshop will perform an adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson tale of a vain emperor whose penchant for new clothes and admiration of his loyal subjects turns sour through the innocent pretense of a child.

Director Irina Zaurov and producer Jennifer Boney-Reynolds will lead the team with assistance from Jenny Zaurov. In its seventh year of operation, the one-hour summer theater performance is free to the public.

Donations will be accepted by the Sylvania Community Arts Commission.
