From watercolor based-paintings, to hand knitted scarves and unique pieces of handcrafted jewelry, the annual Southview High School Arts & Crafts Sale sold only handmade wares and original art from area local artists Saturday afternoon at Southview High School.

The event was organized by the Southview Parent Club.

This year, 22 vendors participated, and a silent auction was held with item donations from each.

A porcelain vase donated by Tara Byczynski-Davis valued $75, a penguin chip dip platter donated by Jan Pugh valued at $70, and pillows donated by Al's Upholstery valued at $35 and $45 were part of a raffle. The proceeds from the silent auction and the raffle will be used for the after-prom program, which promotes safe activities on the night of the dance. Parents create an alternative event for the high school students to attend after prom. L

ast year's them was Monte Carlo Night. This year's theme is still in the works, and will be kept under wraps until students receive formal invitations.

"When they walk in, that's when they get to see the decorations for the first time," said Pat Antonelli, member of the Southview Parent Club.

Putting on the after-party is important because it keeps teens in a drug-free environment and we make it furn with tons of games and food, she said.
