Deadline is this week for the Tree City Film Festival in Sylvania

SYLVANIA COMMUNITY ARTS COMMISSION

The Tree City Film Festival, sponsored by the Sylvania Community Arts Commission, kicks off its inaugural run this spring.

It is for experienced and budding area filmmakers. Application fees are $35 for non-student teams and $25 for student teams. Postmark deadline for Call of Entry is Friday.

The filming weekend is March 8-10, when teams will have 50 hours to create a 13-minute motion picture masterpiece from blank canvas to finished product. Judging will be taking place March 18-29.

The festival, which will include screening premiers and related events, will be held April 12-13 at Maplewood Elementary School for public viewing of student entries and at the Train Barn at the Sylvania Historical Village for viewing non-student entries.

Ticket are $5 for the student entry viewing, and $8 to view the non-student category. Children under 12 are free. Combination tickets granting access to both viewing locations are $10.

Prizes include 1st Place Non-Student Group Entry at $300, 1st Place Student Group Entry at $150, and Best in Show/Audience Choice at $100.

At least half of student team members must present a valid student high school or university ID.
