Reader's Theater is back this winter season at the Olander Park System.

The program has been teaching children ages 7-12 the art of puppetry through the program since 2007.

From introducing students to scenery, props, lighting, music, scriptwriting and more, many children have learned about making animal puppets from Joyce Davis, who is also known as Toledo's Puppet Lady.

Each year, the park system picks a new theme for the shows in Reader's Theater. Last year, bugs were the focus, with the scenery featuring the four seasons. But this year, children will also start learning the art of scriptwriting, which will emphasize personal experiences.

Both Joyce Davis and educator Maureen Schell will work with the children on selecting topics. Rehearsals will run until March 22.

For more information, call the park system at 419-882-8313, extension 30, or email Sandy Gratop at sgratop@olanderpark.com.
