Nature programs, student leadership among weekend events
The third weekend in January in Sylvania has something for everyone.
Here’s what’s going on this weekend:
FRIDAY
The Olander Park System will host a Nurturing Nature program at 10:30 a.m., at the Gorman Nature Education Center, 6930 Sylvania Ave. The event is for 3-5 year olds accompanied by adult guardians. The program includes learning activities that expand cognitive skills. For more information, email info@olanderpark.com.
A writing critique session will be held at the Sylvania Senior Center, from 1:30-3 p.m. This is a recurring event that happens at the same time, on the second and fourth Fridays of each month. SATURDAY
Leadership Toledo will host a Students in Action Leadership, Learning and Serving training event for high school students from 8:45 a.m.-1 p.m. at Lourdes University, 6832 Convent Blvd. The event is aimed at empowering students to redefine the culture of their school campuses and bring teamwork and community service to each school. SUNDAY
A Family Nature Adventure, sponsored by the Olander Park System, will begin at 3 p.m. at the park, located at 6930 Sylvania Ave. The event will include a journey through one of the park system's unique, natural areas, including tips and suggestions on how to explore the outdoors all around the city. Families must register by emailing Erika Buri at eburi@olanderpark.com. The event is limited to eight families.
