Jams, coffee cake, cookies sweeten Sister Gretchen's Bake & Craft Sale

Jams, jellies, pies, banana bread, coffee cake, peanut butter cookies, Russian teacakes and more are available for customers today and Saturday during the 18th Annual Sister Gretchen's Bake & Craft Sale.

Hosted in Regina Hall, on the grounds of the Franciscan Village, the event also included a craft sale, which sold items like original artwork, prints, cards, jewelry, prayer pillows, soaps and lotions.

One of the most popular items are the sugar cookies, said Sister Gretchen Faerber, who organizes the event annually. She worked with a team of six volunteers throughout the year to accomplish all of the baking and preparation. All proceeds from both sale days will go to supporting the ministries of the Sisters of St. Francis.

Polish coffee cakes, chocolate chip cookies, peppermint bark, fudge and pumpkin rolls were also among the items sold. Sister Gretchen said the most common sold-out items included pies, fruit cakes, Polish coffee cakes, and the jams and jellies.

The sugar cookies are also top sellers.
