Shopping and cycling highlight weekend in Sylvania

From shopping deals to a cycling race, Sylvania has a lot of outdoor options to get residents out into the community this weekend.

Here are some of the events:

FRIDAY:

Downtown Sylvania businesses will host a Summer Sidewalk Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participating businesses that will be selling merchandise in front of their shops includes Beautiful Blooms by Jen, Lady C, The Pink Door Boutique, Heaven’s Gate, Angela’s Angels & Antiques, and Dragonfly Tea Cottage.

SATURDAY:

A chicken barbecue will be offered by the Sylvania United Church of Christ from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event will include children’s activities and musical entertainment. The menu will include half of a barbecued chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll, homemade dessert, and drinks. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children. Burnham Park will be busy with the second annual Sylvania Cycling Classic, which will be featured in the area between Erie Street and Maplewood Avenue. Starting at 8 a.m., men, women, and junior racers, ranging from professionals to amatuers, will race for a chance at winning a medal and a payout.
