Music, outdoor exploration among activities for weekend
From a tribute band performance, to time for outdoor exploration at Sylvania’s Fossil Park, this weekend in town has many events that will get the family outdoors and into the sun.
Here’s what’s going on this weekend:
Friday: Get the Led Out, a tribute Led Zeppelin band, will hit the stage at Centennial Terrace. The band is comprised of a group of musicians who love Led Zepellin and enjoy bringing their studio recordings to audiences all over the country. Get the Led Out isn’t an impersonator act but rather a group of musicians who were fans first, striving to do justice to one of the greatest bands in rock history, according to the group’s Web site. Doors will open at the venue at 6:30 p.m.; the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets may be available the day of the show at the Centennial Terrace Box Office after 4:30 p.m., at 5773 Centennial Rd.
Friday-Sunday: The 11th annual Girls Fast Pitch Shoot Out Tournament will bring a weekend of competition to Pacesetter Park, 8801 Sylvania-Metamora Rd. The tournament is a national qualifying event, with a six-game minimum for girls and women between the ages of 8-adult. For detailed field and time information, visit www.sgsfastpitch.org.
Saturday: Join Olander Park naturalist Sandy Gratop at Sylvania’s Fossil Park to uncover fossils and participate in other outdoor activities from 10 to 11 a.m. Visit toledolibrary.org for more details about activities. Fossil Park is located at 5705 Centennial Rd.
