Construction for the planned CVS Pharmacy on the northwest corner of King Road and Sylvania Avenue will begin once the Timberstone Plaza is razed, officials said.
The plaza will be demolished in the next week or so to make room for a 13,000 square foot CVS, said John Wojtila, senior development manager of Zaremba Group.
Construction of the CVS store will begin promptly after that, with an opening date set for October.
The one-story pharmacy will provide drive through service, he said.
The Zaremba Group, based in Cleveland, purchased the land of the proposed site. The purchase hinged on Sylvania City Council’s approval of a zone change request from heavy industrial to general business for the property at 7510 Sylvania Ave. The final zone change approval was given in February, with an assurance the site would be developed with traffic flow in mind.
An affidavit pledged that if property along King, north of the proposed drugstore, were developed commercially that CVS would negotiate an agreement with the landowner to build an vehicle access route between the properties and to have a common driveway.
Timberstone Business Plaza is a one-story, 14,600-square foot building at 7510 to 7530 Sylvania Ave. It has had six units for businesses. Some of the businesses have relocated in the Sylvania area.
