Sylvania area restaurant inspections: 12-31

Recently released inspection reports of Sylvania and Sylvania Township food-service operations

Violations:

B Gump’s 101 Restaurant & Lounge, 5147 S. Main, Sylvania, inspected Dec. 7. Found steak in the top section of prep-top cooler at 56 degrees. Meat pans are overstocked. Time/temperature control for safety food must be held at 41 degrees or lower. One steak was discarded. Unlabeled spray bottle contains olive oil. Spray bottles must be labeled to allow employees to know contents. Store spray bottles appropriately to prevent cross contamination. Found bottles of caramel sauce, chocolate sauce and jerky sauce open and out at room temperature. Items require refrigeration after opening. Sauces were discarded. Inspector: Jennifer Gottschalk.

Mayberry Diner, 8253 Mayberry, Sylvania, inspected Dec. 11. Food stored on cooler floor. Store food at least 6 inches off the floor to protect from contamination. Unlabeled spray bottles at the front counter. Chemical spray bottles must be properly labeled to allow all users to know contents. Store chemical spray bottles away from food and food-contact items to protect from contamination. Hands must be washed prior to placing gloves on, and hands must be washed again and gloves changed when changing tasks to prevent cross contamination. Inspector: Gottschalk.

Jet’s Pizza, 4900 N. McCord, Sylvania, inspected Dec. 11. Unlabeled chemical spray bottle. Chemical spray bottles must be properly labeled to allow employees to know contents. Store chemicals away from food and food-contact items to prevent cross contamination. Inspector: Gottschalk.

Jojo’s Famous Chili Dog, 5155 S. Main, Sylvania, inspected Dec. 10. No paper towels. Hand sinks must be stocked with hand soap, paper towels and hot/cold running water to allow proper hand washing. Corrected. No seven-day discard date label on open cole slaw. Corrected. Food on cooler floor; store food at least six inches off the ground to prevent contamination. Store potatoes off ground in the walk-in cooler. A leak in the walk-in cooler fan unit. The walk-in cooler must be in good condition to prevent food contamination. Repair leak immediately. Wiping cloth bucket made with bleach and soap. When making a sanitizer wiping cloth bucket, use regular unscented bleach with warm water. Use the chlorine test kit to check the concentration of sanitizer available. Change sanitizer bucket as needed. Inspector: Gottschalk.

Sylvania Country Club - Main Kitchen, 5201 Corey, Sylvania, inspected Dec. 12. Grease trap water leaking over the ground outside by the Dumpsters. Water is flowing out of one drain cover down the hill onto the golf course. Water is also flowing from another drain cover. Employee washing hands in the food-prep sink. Employees must wash hands in the hand sink. Found chili without required seven-day discard date. Chili discarded. Corrected. No paper towels available at a hand sink; properly stock hand sink with hand soap, paper towels, and hot/cold running water. Inspector: Gottschalk.

Star Bar, 5215 Monroe, inspected Dec. 11. No soap and paper towels available at the bar hand-washing sink. The bar must have a hand sink designated and stocked properly at all times with soap and paper towels. Corrected. Inspector: Sattler.
