Sylvania chamber sets next Showcase Expo for March 23

SYLVANIA AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Businesses and organizations looking to rent booths at the March Showcase Business Expo at Tam-O-Shanter in Sylvania should contact the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce.

The 2013 expo, set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 23, is expected to have more than 160 exhibitors. To participate, call the chamber office at 419-882-2135 or email Laura Glover at lglover@sylvaniachamber.org. Booth rental is $235.00 for chamber members and $300 for non-chamber members (which includes a six-month chamber membership).

More than 4,000 people attended last year’s free event.

Chamber Executive Director Pat Nowak states, “The chamber recognized 10n years ago that it is important to highlight regional businesses and the expo is the perfect venue. It gives all businesses a face in the community, is an effective use of advertising and allows interaction one on one with residents and other businesses.”

Featured at the upcoming expo will be ProMedica Flower Hospital and Paramount Health Pavilion offering free blood glucose screenings, BMI and body fat screenings, blood pressure screenings and bone density screenings, and other health information. Also, an ambulance will be on site for tours.

The Taste of Sylvania is a part of expo, in which Giant Eagle, local restaurants and coffee shops offer food ideas. New will be a Sylvania Bake-Off in which amateur bakers can enter recipes at a preliminary event on Feb. 23 and a panel of judges will announce the top 10 who will present their baking at the expo. The public will be invited to vote.

The expo also will have giveaways and interactive games that many of the vendors bring.

Free parking for the expo is on-site at Tam-O-Shanter as well as at Olander Park, Southview High School and Boulevard Church of Christ.

A preview part to the expo will be held March 22, with more than 300 to be invited.
