Flower Hospital expands behavioral health center, to open new conference center

ProMedica Flower Hospital is expanding its adult behavioral health center and is opening a new conference center in March, hospital President Alan Sattler told about 40 people at this week’s Sylvania Rotary Club meeting.

The behavioral health center will add 10 beds on the second floor of the hospital, he said. The conference center, now located in near the Lake Park entrance, will have four meeting rooms that each can accommodate 10 to15 people and a main conference room, which will hold 80 people, he added.

Previously, the conference center has been on Flower’s eighth floor which now will be converted to patient rooms, he said.

The surgical floors, on the fourth through the eighth floors, will be transformed into private rooms over the next three years, he said.

“It will be a huge accomplishment for Flower,” the CEO said. “It’s a very important part of our plan.”

“It’s a really pretty campus,” said Norman Koenigseker, a rotary member and an engineering professor at University of Toledo. “It’s something to be proud of.”

Flower has been operating in the Toledo area for 102 years, but it started at Cherry Street and Collingwood Boulevard in Toledo and moved to Sylvania in 1975.
