Southview tops Maumee 31-27

Ahmad Parker's 29-yard touchdown run with 8:52 to play helped the Cougars prevail Friday night in a Northern Lakes League game.

The Cougars overcame a 27-point second quarter by host Maumee.

Quarterback Austin Valdez led Southview (2-3, 1-1 NLL) with 17 carries for 114 yards and a touchdown. He also completed 9 for 15 passes for 149 yards as the Falcons also got two touchdowns from Damian Griesinger.

Chris Ellis had field goals of 24 and 35 yards in the second quarter for Southview.

Maumee (3-2, 1-1) got a big game from running back Andrew Schultz, who ran 13 times for 129 yards and a score. Schultz also caught three passes for 56 yards.

Maumee quarterback Steve Duby ran for touchdowns from 24 and 10 yards out. He had a 38-yard scoring pass to Sean McGovern that put the Panthers up 27-20 at halftime.
